And Lives Happily Ever After

Scribblings

Welcome to my home page! My name is Kate. I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself. I live in the foothills of the Rockies in Alberta. I moved here from Texas. Of course there were some things that I had to get accustomed to.
Like snow...

And more snow...

And even more snow!

Of course, all that snow, makes a nice Christmas and Christmas just happens to be my favorite time of year.

I am also a housewife extraordinaire! Before ridiculing my choice of professions, let me say a word in defense of housewives. These are the people who keep the house going, remember to turn off the coffee pot, makes appointments and schedules for everyone who lives there and generally makes sure that everyone else's life is just a little easier.
My jobs include animal trainer (my husband), dog trainer (all three of them are magnificent mutts!), cow puncher (well, that's a long story), chicken farmer and gardener. Not to mention the usual housewifely duties of cooking, cleaning, nursing, confidante and gossip monger (which ties in with the previously mentioned confidante).

My husband (bless his little pointed beak!) is an agricultural financial consultant. Unlike other financial consultants, he doesn't sell paper. That is, he doesn't sell stocks, bonds or mutual funds. If your farm is in trouble or you just want to get a better idea of your financial picture, he's the guy to call. Follow the link below to find out more about him and his work.

This is Brad. Now please don't laugh at him for picking his nose.  As you can see, in the picture below, nosepicking has a long history.

Since I've been on the farm, I have found myself quite busy but still something was missing. I needed a hobby that had a slight chance at making a little money. One day, we were traveling with Brad, our son, when he begged me to tell him a story about a schoolbus. That was the beginning of my writing career/hobby. You can see the story that I told him here.

The Lonely Schoolbus

Since then, I've written a few more stories, not all of them are children's stories. I've even had a few published. I even got paid for a few. Some of my stories have been about farmlife. If you read them, I think you'll find that farmlife is not such a relaxing type of life.

You can find out a little about farm life here.

As a housewife extraordinaire, cooking food that is quick and inexpensive is one of my necessary skills. Here are some quick and easy recipes. If you try and like one of these recipes, let me know. Keep checking back for more and if you have one to share, it can be posted here with mine.
Spaghetti Sauce
(strongly recommended by the pointy-beaked guy)

Fresh Peach Pie
(don't let them know that this has cream cheese in it before they eat it)
